Legendary Rover Team – From Rzeszów to Mars!
Legendary Rover Team is an interdisciplinary group of students from Rzeszów University of Technology, united by their passion for space, engineering, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Operating under the Student Aviation Science Club, we’ve been designing and building Mars rover analogs since 2011, competing in the world’s most prestigious robotics competition – the University Rover Challenge in the USA. There, on the Utah desert, our rovers have twice claimed first place, becoming a symbol of the potential of Polish engineering.
Our mission is to create solutions that bring humanity one step closer to a manned mission to the Red Planet. We design rovers capable of performing tasks such as sample collection, astronaut support, and autonomous navigation in rough terrain. The URC presents tough challenges – five demanding field tasks that test every element of our design, from mobility to autonomy and human interaction. This is where theory meets practice, and innovation addresses the real needs of future space exploration.
But Legendary Rover Team is more than just engineering. We are actively involved in educational outreach, science shows, and charitable initiatives. Our rovers don’t just travel the sands of Utah – they also visit schools and science festivals, inspiring future generations to reach for the stars and proving that science can change the world.
Our team is organized into eight specialized sections: drone, electronics, finance, IT, logistics, marketing, mechanics, and science – this diversity of skills makes us run like a well-oiled machine. Each new member brings fresh ideas, and our teamwork is not only a great learning experience but also the adventure of a lifetime.
