About us
per aspera ad astra
Legendary Rover is a team working as part of the Student Scientific Association of Aviators (est. ca. 1975) operating at the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Rzeszów University of Technology. We are involved in building a vehicle based on the Mars rover. As a non-profit organisation, we bring together technology, space science and mechanical engineering enthusiasts. We were founded in 2011, initially focusing on the University Rover Challenge competition, and now actively participate in popular science activities, promoting space exploration and robotics among children and young people.
Building a Mars rover provides the hands-on experience in engineering and robotics needed to develop a functional rover for a manned Martian mission. It allows the team to test and refine their technological knowledge and develop skills in teamwork at the same time. The project also helps to understand the planning of future missions to Mars. Ultimately, it supports innovation in planetary science, contributing to the group’s expertise and the scientific community.
Each year, new and ambitious students join our team to develop their interests and contribute to the evolution of the space project.
The team consists of 8 sections.
